Census database 2.1 goes live
A version update of the census database was installed in March 2022. As a result, the indicators calculated in the database are kept confidential using the CKM method. Compared with self-calculated indicators, they have the advantage of reducing the inaccuracies resulting from the perturbative confidentiality method. You will now find proportional values in addition to case numbers in all the tables with one subject variable in the sections Buildings, Dwellings, Households, Families and Population in brief. The extension of the range of tables required slight changes in the numbering and structure of the tables. If you have questions on the range of tables offered, please do not hesitate to contact the census information service. Please use the adjustment options especially for large tables to specify a selection of variable values before starting the retrieval (“Table adjustment”). This allows you to adjust the table to optimally fit your information needs. If you require a complex table in its entirety, you can register easily and free of charge to get convenient access to very large tables.
The data basis for Germany
For the first time since German reunification, a register-based census was used in 2011 to determine how many people live in Germany and what their housing and working conditions are like. In the Census database published by the statistical offices of the Federation and the Länder, you can retrieve the results of the 2011 Census in a flexible and easy manner. Under www.zensus2011.de, you will also find detailed information on the legal basis and the methodology of the 2011 Census. The upcoming census in 2022 will be the second register-based population census supplemented by a sample survey and combined with a census of buildings and housing. These results will also be published in this database. The statistical offices of the Federation and the Länder will keep you informed about the preparations and the current time schedule of the upcoming census at www.zensus2022.de.
